Permit production of non-ornamental, native, and edible plants on residential lots and city-managed properties
Zoning for vacant or underdeveloped lots for small-scale agriculture production
Create model 'food enterprise zone' with incentives and zoning designations for urban food production
Enhance ordinances to allow for local food, beverage, and farm-related enterprises
Ensure emergency planning (policies, procedures, and infrastructure).

On Wednesday, August 5, 2026, I am seeking to be certified as a candidate for the office of Mayor for the City of Boulder.
I believe we can heal relationships across our communities, balance the needs of people and the planet, and co-create new rules of engagement that honor and respect all living beings.

Taishya (she/her) is an educator, environmentalist, social justice advocate, outdoor recreationalist, musician, entrepreneur, and lover of this beautiful city she’s called home for 13 years. Taishya is focused on community building, personal transformation, and systems change. -
Taishya owns a consulting firm that works on enviornmental policy and educational leadership. Most recently, Taishya served on the Colorado State Land Board Workgroup. Previously, Taishya served as a commissioner to CO Parks and Wildlife and as a member of the CO Natural Areas Council. Taishya also served on the CO Office of Tourism Destination Stewardship Council, the board of Black in Marine Science, Outdoor Alliance for Kids, and the NOAA National Marine Sanctuary Business Advisory Council. Taishya completed the Water Fluency course with Water Education Colorado in 2025.

Taishya served on the inaugural Boulder Police Oversight Panel (BPOP). Overpolicing of marginalized peoples continues to be a challenge in our city. Our countil must strengthen accountability, transparency, community oversight, and interagency collaboration. It is time to break the legacy of uneven discipline and safety.

Taishya is a filmmaker, singer, songwriter, and an actor who has performed locally, nationally, and internationally. Taishya is also a former arts educator with Learning through an Expanded Arts Program in NYC. Taishya is in previews for Uprooting Qahr! a film, music, and theater experience which will premiere in 2027.
