Priorities & Policy Platform

  • Community-led, Community driven

    • Ensure community engagement throughout planning and evaluation phase

    • Engage with all city appointed boards and commission engagements

    • Expand community connectors

    Fiscal Responsibility

    • Strengthen fiscal notes on all policy decisions

    • Ensure values aligned/ socially responsible investments (eg budget, investment portfolio)

    • Provide project upates with budget vs actual

    SMART Goals, Meaningful Oversight

    • Citywide strategic plan co-developed by council, staff, and boards/commissions with milestones and metrics of success

    • Proposed plans include priotization and budget projections

    • Valid and reliable research and evaluation across projects and departments

    Housing for Working People/ Families

    • Expand affordable housing programs

    • Strengthen rental protections and support

    • Diversify housing stock within Area I

  • Restoring Kinship & Connection

    • Consider pathways for land back to Indigenous & Tribes in Area III

    • Green amendments prioritizing access to clean air, water, and soil

    • Rights of Nature

    Economic Transformation

    • Incentivize circular economy, expand waste diversion

    • Accelerate transition to green buildings & business practices

    • Socially responsible investing and oversight

    • Develop renewable enterprise

    • Identify pathways to housing cooperatives / convert commercial to housing properties

    • Strengthen worker protections

    Climate Mitigation & Adaptation

    • Wildfire mitigation revolving loan fund/ partnership with banks for property owners

    • Expand community resilience hubs in collaboration with county

    • Accelerate co-management with Indigenous and Tribes

    • Trainings on climate & sustainability for city boards and commissions

    • Address overconsumption challenges and reduce wasteConsumption inventory

    • Enhance warning systems & neighborhood networks

    Fortify Food Systems

    • Mobile produce markets/carts (eg food trucks, palateras, farm stands, and cut fruit vendors)

    • Accelerate food waste rescue and recovery policy (including prepared food and food scraps)

    • Permit production of non-ornamental, native, and edible plants on residential lots and city-managed properties

    • Zoning for vacant or underdeveloped lots for small-scale agriculture production

    • Create model 'food enterprise zone' with incentives and zoning designations for urban food production

    • Enhance ordinances to allow for local food, beverage, and farm-related enterprises

    • Ensure emergency planning (policies, procedures, and infrastructure).

    • Increase procurement policies and practices for local, sustainable and equitable food

  • City Council led Public Safety Oversight

    • City Council oversight of Boulder Police Oversight Plan (authority, reporting, appointments, procedures)

    • City Council driven policy development on privacy and and mass surveillance

    Public Reporting & Transparency

    • Quarterly reporting on policing and public safety

    • Quarterly reporting on human relations ordnance and cooperation with state

    Community Safety Preparedness

    • Resiste Jim Crow 3.0

    • Establish ICE protocols and partnerships

    • Ensure anti-discrimination training and support

    • "Protect our Neighbors" campaign

On Wednesday, August 5, 2026, I am seeking to be certified as a candidate for the office of Mayor for the City of Boulder.

I believe we can heal relationships across our communities, balance the needs of people and the planet, and co-create new rules of engagement that honor and respect all living beings.

Taishya is a:


  • Taishya (she/her) is an educator, environmentalist, social justice advocate, outdoor recreationalist, musician, entrepreneur, and lover of this beautiful city she’s called home for 13 years. Taishya is focused on community building, personal transformation, and systems change.

  • Taishya owns a consulting firm that works on enviornmental policy and educational leadership. Most recently, Taishya served on the Colorado State Land Board Workgroup. Previously, Taishya served as a commissioner to CO Parks and Wildlife and as a member of the CO Natural Areas Council. Taishya also served on the CO Office of Tourism Destination Stewardship Council, the board of Black in Marine Science, Outdoor Alliance for Kids, and the NOAA National Marine Sanctuary Business Advisory Council. Taishya completed the Water Fluency course with Water Education Colorado in 2025.

  • Taishya served on the inaugural Boulder Police Oversight Panel (BPOP). Overpolicing of marginalized peoples continues to be a challenge in our city. Our countil must strengthen accountability, transparency, community oversight, and interagency collaboration. It is time to break the legacy of uneven discipline and safety.

  • Taishya is a filmmaker, singer, songwriter, and an actor who has performed locally, nationally, and internationally. Taishya is also a former arts educator with Learning through an Expanded Arts Program in NYC. Taishya is in previews for Uprooting Qahr! a film, music, and theater experience which will premiere in 2027.
